The Chippewa Hills School District Board of Education is beginning the process of hiring a new superintendent. The board is soliciting community and staff input on the qualities, experiences, and skills needed in the new superintendent. Residents of the District, all staff and administration are encouraged to participate in the process. The board is being assisted in its search by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), a service organization that supports the work of school boards throughout Michigan. Mark Palmer is facilitating the search on behalf of MASB. Mark will be holding meetings in the District to give the community and staff an opportunity for input. Parents and community members are invited to share their perspectives at a meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 PM in the High School Media Center. Input may also be shared via an online survey, available at this URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/chsuptsearch The survey is being administered by the MASB Executive Search team on behalf of the District and takes about ten minutes to complete. Anonymous individual responses will be combined with those from the face-to-face meetings with stakeholders to provide important community input to the Chippewa Hills Board of Education as it seeks to identify the best candidate for the position. Learn more about our superintendent search, including a preliminary job posting and search timeline, on our website here: https://www.chsd.us/page/superintendent-search

On Friday, the first-grade classrooms presented their gift of donated pennies to Angels of Action, who will use this money to help provide food for local children in need. Warriors, do you have a poor internet connection at home? There may be hope on the horizon! The State of Michigan is receiving $1.6 billion in federal funds to upgrade internet infrastructure throughout the state. In order to determine which areas of the state do not have access to high-speed internet, Michigan is hosting a Broadband Mapping Challenge. Residents can visit merit.edu/challenge to check the state internet map for their home address and submit necessary corrections for their area. The result of the challenge will be a final state broadband map that will be used to determine which locations are eligible for federal funds to improve internet infrastructure. This program is a great opportunity to help improve internet service for homes in the Chippewa Hills district! The deadline for residents to participate in the challenge and correct the state map, is Wednesday, April 24. If you have any questions about the challenge website or communication materials, please contact Merit Network at challenge@merit.edu.
